"I came in a few times before dinner. First time was for an emergency phone charge- I was distraught and the bartender greeted me with a smile and kept me company. The next evening I popped back in because of the friendly service and ended up meeting another traveling couple from Germany. I sat in with a Prosecco while we all had a nice chat. This place is just an undercover oasis for travelers. Warm environment, plenty of tables indoor and outdoor, good Wi-Fi, and Francesco, the bartender is always smiling and speaks English! With such a great location, there’s no reason not to stop in for your apéro !"

"After a very unpleasant experience near the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, I was ready to leave the town immediately. But one of my taxi companions suggested we stop by the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, and there, I had a deeply spiritual experience that completely restored my peace of mind. After receiving so much grace, as we waited for our train back to Rome, someone suggested grabbing a gelato and a coffee — and so we stopped at this place, without expecting much. But as soon as we stepped inside, I felt something shift — this, I thought, is the true spirit of Assisi. The owner, working alone behind the bar, was incredibly kind. The gelato was smooth and delicious, the coffee absolutely perfect, and the owner was cheerful and genuinely warm. There were many locals around, probably regulars, chatting and enjoying their coffee and gelato. Watching them gave me such a comforting, homey feeling. This bar has been open since 1860 — and it’s clear why. It reminded me how a scoop of gelato and a cup of coffee can bring comfort to a weary traveler, body and soul. I sincerely hope many other travelers will stop by and experience what we did. It’s not just a café — it’s a place that warms your heart. Highly recommended. Dopo un’esperienza molto spiacevole nei pressi della Basilica di San Francesco ad Assisi, stavo quasi per lasciare subito la città. Ma uno dei miei compagni di taxi ha proposto di fermarci alla Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli, e lì ho vissuto un momento profondamente spirituale che mi ha restituito la pace del cuore. Dopo aver ricevuto tanta grazia, mentre aspettavamo il treno per tornare a Roma, uno del gruppo ha proposto di prendere un gelato e un caffè — e così siamo entrati in questo bar, senza grandi aspettative. Ma è stato proprio lì che ho pensato: "Ecco, questo è davvero lo spirito di Assisi." Il proprietario, che lavorava da solo dietro il bancone, è stato di una gentilezza rara. Il gelato era morbido e squisito, il caffè semplicemente perfetto, e il proprietario era una persona allegra e sincera. Il locale era pieno di clienti del posto, persone del quartiere, che chiacchieravano serenamente tra un caffè e un gelato. Guardarli mi ha fatto sentire un calore familiare. Il bar è aperto dal 1860 — e si capisce perché sia ancora attivo oggi. È uno di quei posti che ti dimostrano quanto un semplice gelato e un buon caffè possano dare conforto a un viaggiatore stanco nel corpo e nello spirito. Spero che molti altri viaggiatori possano fermarsi qui e vivere ciò che abbiamo vissuto noi. Non è un semplice bar, ma un luogo che sa trasmettere calore e umanità. Consigliatissimo. 아시시의 성 프란치스코 성당 인근에서 매우 불쾌한 경험을 하고 바로 아시시를 떠나려다가, 택시를 같이 탔던 일행이 산타 마리아 안젤리 성당으로 간다고 해서 그곳으로 가서 완전히 마음이 다시 성스러워지는 체험을 하고, 은총을 많이 받은 후 교회에서 나와 로마로 가는 기차를 타기 전 아이스크림과 커피를 먹고 싶다는 일행 중 한 명의 제안으로 들렀던 곳입니다. 별 기대 안 하고 들렀다가, 일단 여기가 정말 아시시구나 라는 생각을 해 주게 만든 그런 곳이었습니다. 바에서 혼자 일하던 주인분은 너무 친절하셨고, 젤라토 역시 참 부드럽고 맛있었습니다. 커피도 완벽했고, 주인 분이 참 쾌활하고 좋은 분이셨습니다. 아마 로컬 단골 손님들로 보이는 분들이 많았는데, 커피와 아이스크림을 즐기며 이런 분들이 대화를 나누는 모습을 보는 것도 참 정겨웠습니다. 1860년에 오픈해 지금까지 영업을 계속할 수 있는 데에는 다 이유가 있구나, 하는 생각이 들었습니다. 몸과 마음이 지쳤을 때 먹는 젤라또와 커피가 얼마나 여행객들을 위로해 주는지 실감하게 만들어준 곳입니다. 많은 여행자 분들이 들러 저희가 했던 경험을 직접 해 보셨으면 합니다. 그냥 단순한 카페가 아니라 무언가 마음에 따뜻함을 전해주는 그런 곳입니다. 강력추천합니다."
